The Ramp Church International

The Ramp Church International (RCI) initially labeled “The Ramp Worship Experience” started on the 1st Sunday of April 2005 in the town of Alta Vista, VA. The first service was held at the Historic Train Station building on Washington Street which had been restored and made into a small banquet room. The majority of the attendants were college students from Liberty University, Younger’s family and faithful friends.

Salvation Station

When the Train Station became unavailable the Ramp Church would meet at the Holiday Inn in Alta Vista or the Prayer Chapel on the campus of Liberty University. After a few months the building became too small to house the membership. Pastor Younger was then approached by Pastor Tracey McCutheon of the Love Church International on Road 714 in Alta Vista.. He offered the use of their facility on Sunday Afternoon in exchange for The Ramp Church conducting praise and worship at his morning service.

Independence Day

After prayer the two churches came into covenant with one another. On October 20th 2005 at 12:00 noon, Pastor Younger and the Ramp Church became recognized as an official local body by a group of independent bishops at an installation ceremony (Some of those bishops included Bishop Lorenzo Hall, Bishop Tony Carter, Bishop Raymond Bennett and Bishop Motley G. Davis just to name a few). RCI conducted service at the Love Church International for approximately a whole year. Eventually a door opened for the young church to have a home of its own.

Pool Hall to Pulpit

RCI moved approx. five minutes south to the next neighboring town called Hurt, VA. The church began to lease a 3500 square ft. building that had previously housed a pool hall. The Ramp Church along with friends such as Deacon Bill Recter and Elder Gene Gillette worked effortlessly to make this facility a place of worship.

Moving Time

Although the church in Hurt, VA was increasingly growing, the Lord led Pastor Younger to begin a second location in Lynchburg, VA on the campus of the James Crossing Housing Complex. Since the conception of the ministry many souls have come to Christ at both locations and lives have been changed. In March of 2008 Pastor Younger sought after God for a new a place and was led to the 3760 Candler’s Mountain location in Lycnhburg, VA.

Only a Matter of Time

On the eve of the 3rd Church Anniversary the church was prohibited from entering into their new facility due to rezoning issues with the city of Lynchburg. Temporarily the Ramp Church then moved downtown to the City Market Lofts for worship while awaiting the rezoning by the City Council. Three months later on the last Sunday in June of 2008 they moved into their present location.  Already the church has out grown this location.  Presently Pastor Younger and the congregation are praying about the next step.  This history is incomplete because God is still writing this story!
